Gloomy Monday

I know the song is Gloomy Sunday but today's Monday... And it's going to be gloomy all week. A storm system is passing through and it's bringing us lots of rain. This is a good thing for us Southern Californians because our dams and lakes can stock up water, ready for the next summer heat wave. I really don't like being on drought alert...my plants suffer so much! So I'm glad we're soaking up all this rain. Plus, it's clearing up our skies and making everything feel fresh. Winter Weather

We rarely get snow here where I live. In winter, we get rain instead. So while we're all wishing for snow, I'm still happy for the rain. I love rain and the way it makes the earth smell and the wind feel on your face. And I love the way it makes everything look entirely different too... It's supposed to rain all week around these parts. I'm really looking forward it. The kids will have a very wet back-to-school week, but I know they'll love all the puddles that are sure to have accumulated around campus. The downside? More laundry... 🤣 … [Read more...]

A Rainy Day

Summer felt very long for us in Southern California. It seemed to last even well into the first weeks of Fall. While the rest of the northern world were experiencing the changing of the season, we SoCal inhabitants were still sweating it out during the day, but oh so enjoying the weather at night. Here, a sure sign that Fall is upon us is the presence of a cold rainfall along with, finally, some Fall foliage popping up in some neighborhoods who were graced with non-evergreen trees. When It Rains, It Pours

Today, it was a warm and sunny day in Southern California. You wouldn't guess at all that just last week, it was raining cats and dogs around here. So much so, that there were flooded streets everywhere. My favorite was when the street that my children's school was on, looked like a river! Check it out... Nope. That's not a river's shore. That's the sidewalk and street. Let me zoom out a little... Still don't see the street? How about now? Crazy, right?
