Unregrettably Good

It’s been so long since I’ve typed out this mommy life. Writing here almost seems foreign and new again.

Who will read this? I don’t know. But I’m itching to write. Life happened, but my memory has never been good. I need to write before I forget the good parts.

Like the time I took 3 of the kids to the beach, in the middle of a hectic week…

Using the scrounged up quarters and dimes in my purse and car, I managed to get a good hour of parking meter time. I’d dare say, it was a “golden hour.”

There were hardly any beachgoers around, it being 8:30 in the morning. The air was clean and clear. The marine layer had dissipated early. We had a perfect view of the ocean.

It was an unplanned stop, so there was nothing to carry — beach toys, towels, 100 snacks, water, an umbrella, change of clothes, more beach toys. I had my purse backpack and 3 kids who were not dressed for the beach.

But like most kids, my kids didn’t care.

After 45 minutes of sand and sun, we started heading back to the car. The last 15 minutes of meter time were spent getting sand out of everything — socks, shoes, feet, pants pockets, sweater pockets, hoodies, hair, and even underwear.

And while the latter was a bother, the whole thing in general was unregrettably good. Unplanned things rarely go well, but I’m glad this one did.

Maybe we’ll be lucky and it’ll happen again soon.
