Peaceful Colors

Nowadays, it’s rare for me to see my three oldest children getting along, while doing the same activity. So you can bet that I took pictures when I saw them peacefully coloring together the other day. Although they were using bright colors, I like to remember the moment as “peaceful colors,” because that’s what the moment was – coloring had brought peace, for a time.

They are ages 5, 7, and almost 12, yet they got along for a beautiful, peaceful 10 minutes. There was no noise. They shared markers. There was no yelling. There was no arguing. What else could a mom ask for? (Maybe another 10 minutes? Nah. I don’t wanna push my luck.)

  1. Colouring is rather a peaceful activity though, isn’t it? My eldest at 12 won’t really colour anymore – unless it’s comic panels that his friend has drawn; which is way cool in of itself. But my girls will colour on any scrap piece of paper they can find. I have little notes from them all over the place. Ha.
